Martin has a 30-year track record of success in the ICT industry. From the early days as a target-beating salesman, through sales management, to Oracle where, over 13 years, he completed many challenging sales assignments.

Martin has, over time, amassed a great deal of Sales Performance Management (SPM) experience. In particular, as Oracle's Business Operations Director in Europe, he applied and expanded his SPM skills as a 'corporate policeman' ensuring that country operations aligned with corporate expectations, operating in almost all European countries.

This covered:

  • More accurate and predictable sale pipeline management and forecasting
  • Clarity in sales roles and team structures
  • Shaping sales territories, quotas and sales compensation plans

 

Later, as many new countries acceded to the European Union, he specialised in helping subsidiaries, mainly in Eastern Europe, take full advantage of the growth opportunities offered by EU accession.

He has particularly enjoyed handling remedial sales management programs where he has helped turn around underperforming sales teams and, through interim leadership roles, mitigated the impact of unexpected executive departures, for example in Bosnia and Slovenia.

Latterly, as Sales Vice-President for Oracle in South-East Europe, he was responsible for high-growth markets in former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Cyprus and Malta. Check out LinkedIn for the full picture.

Now an Australian resident, Martin formed Two Hemispheres three years ago in 2008 to deliver the SPM services, shaped during his time at Oracle, to the Australian market. Check out our Clients page for some insight into the kind of projects successfully delivered since the company's inception.

He is committed to helping Australian companies accelerate their development. To this end, he serves on the SA Branch Committee of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA). Martin is also a presenter and mentor on Innovate SA's 'Growing Global Companies' program, which works with entrepreneurial and early stage companies in South Australia that are on a growth path. So far over 80 companies have attended 'Sales Fundamentals' which Martin presents on behalf of Innovate SA.
